Bugfix release #1
I've done some minor bug fixes to the game:
- Game controls are now in the help section of the main menu
- The portal will stay open on invasion events so you can try the portal out.
- I made a small optimisation to the NPCs, a consequence is upon death they will sink through the world, I will evaluate a better way of handling this down the line, it looks organic as-is, the caveat is that the npcs can hide in the walls lol... is this a feature or a bug?
We had our first twitch streamer playing the game today!!!
After watching them play we've decided to reorganise some of the UX of the game, it is awkward as-is.
These can probably be one task and one bit of UI so we'll be working on these too in the next few patches:
- We need control hints
- We need a hover for interactions you can make, like an outline.
- We need UI for the guns to tell you what level a gun is, how many shots etc.
- I had the vibe its unintuitive that you need to walk away from keypads to close them same for computers
We need to split the invasion event up from the dialing sequence (they're hardcoded together at the moment because it was a prototype),
- On windows there were lag spikes caused by move_and_slide, I'm looking into this.
We are also going to be adding our first player models soon so keep an eye on this space.
I've been pushing hard on the game for a while so I'll rest a little tomorrow.
What's actually in progress right now?
- Adding more maps/destinations to the portal
